Trapper Education

A trapper education course teaches participants how to responsibly trap furbearing animals and provides a foundation of knowledge upon which to build. Topics in the 10 hour course include proper trapping equipment and use, responsible trap setting, the importance of good wildlife management practices, and habits and traits of furbearers. Students must pass a written exam. All Trapping Educations Courses are homestudy courses. Homestudy requires attendance at all sessions as well as study at home, in order to receive your certificate.

Total = 10 Hours

  • Fur Management = 1 Hour
  • Tools of the trade = 2 Hours
  • Trap Setting = 1 Hour
  • Handling Animals = 1 Hour
  • Laws and Landowner Relations = 2 Hours
  • Field Exercise = 2 Hours
  • Exam = 1 Hour

This Pilote Class will be on August  12, 2019 at Skowhegan Sportsmen’s Club at 857 East River Road in Skowhegan 04976 from 5:30pm to 9:00pm.  The Second Class; a Full day with be at the Windsor Fair Grounds at the Trapping Revendous on September  21, 2019 8am-4pm.  Your Home work assignments must be done to attend the Saturday in Windsor.   If you show up without it or it is not complete; your will be turned away.  For the Pilote class sign up; one person per registration and each individual must be registered by their own Name and information. Bring a pen, pencil, and a $10.00 Donation.   The Full day class you will brign: your homework completed, a pen, pencil, lunch, and clothes and foot wear to work outside in.  Dress for the weather; if it is raining you will be outside.
