Firearms Hunter Safety- Homestudy 

Maine Firearms Education course: Online. Courses vary in presentation and teaching style as well as student work requirements outside of the classroom. Courses are taught by trained, certified volunteer instructors according to statewide standards. Courses cover the following topics: proper firearms handling (rifle and shotgun), survival/first aid, hunter responsibility, map and compass and landowner relations.

Students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a firearm, participate in activities, bring in a survival kit with appropriate contents and pass a 50 question test with a grade of at least 70%.

The Online Course requires that students complete the knowledge portion of the course online and attend a skills and exam day which is about 7 hours. Students complete quizzes and exam as they do the online course and are provided with a voucher to attend the skills and exam day upon completion of the online exam. In the skills and exam session students must demonstrate to the instructor that they can safely handle a firearm, participate in activities, bring in a survival kit with appropriate contents and pass a 50 question test with a grade of at least 70%. Students must complete the online course and provide voucher number to register for the Skills and Exam Day. Students must also bring the voucher to the first class. This Class is an Online class at Jackman School, 606 Main Street, Jackman, Maine 04945; Friday night, August 23, 2019 from 5:30pm-9pm and Saturday Morning, Augusta 24, 2019  from 8:00am to Noon.  Online students must register and bring the following; Voucher from online class and a survival Kit.  Please bring Pens and pencils for class.
